Abstract:
In this summary, the author presents a new approach for the control and optimization of small-scale biomass furnaces, based onlyon the carbon monoxide content of the exhaust gases. The main components of the control algorithm are described toenable the reader to understand the main structure and core ideas of the control loop. This paper illustrates and discusses the resultsof experiments on a market-available small-scale furnace for wood pellets and it demonstrates that carbon monoxide basedcontrolsystems can deliver significant benefits and offer a promising alternative to conventional control strategies.
