Abstract:

The Advisory Group (AG) of the European Commission’s FP7 Theme 2, “Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology” ­the so called “Knowledge­Based BioEconomy – consisted of 27 experts, and was chaired for more than 3 years by the two authors. The object of this paper is a review the AG’s meeting reports during the period November 2008 – December 2011 in order to extract and report AG key reflections referring to biomass and having a strategic and policy value for the biomass and bioenergy fields. Special emphasis is given to the links of biomass­related issues with the other components of bioeconomy, as identified by the AG discussions and its interactions with the Commission Services and other AGs.
