Abstract:
The present work is focused on the Aqueous Phase Reforming (APR) process of the water soluble fraction of biooil produced from biomass pyrolysis. In this work, acetol has been selected as a model compound. The experiments have been carried out at 500 K, 39 bar and using a Ni/Al coprecipitated catalyst. In order to select the best conditions for obtaining a gas with high H2 content, the influence of acetol (CH3COCH2OH) content in feed and the catalyst weight/model compound flow rate ratio (W/macetol) are studied. Therefore, a two factortwo level design of experiments with statistical analysis of the results by means of analysis of variance (ANOVA) has been used. As can be observed from the results, the acetol concentration have a negative effect in H2 selectivity, while W/macetol ratio has a positive effect, being the lowest acetol content in feed and the highest W/macetol ratio the best conditions for obtaining the highest yield to H2.
