Abstract:

Consolidated pyrolysis application in industry requires deeper control and optimization of the process. For that on line characterization of the process, regarding products distribution and composition in similar conditions as the ones encountered in industrial applications is needed. In this study, slow pyrolysis of thermally thick particles in a technical scale fixed bed reactor is carried out under several pyrolysis conditions. Different raw materials are used: pine wood chips, beech wood spheres, cellulose waste and food waste. Transport phenomena inside the bed are analyzed through the temperatures distribution inside the bed along the process together with the char properties characterization from four different positions inside the bed. Char is analyzed for proximate and ultimate analysis, density, pH and minerals retention. CO, CO2, CH4 and H2 are analyzed on line in a GC¬TCD.
