Abstract:

Fukushima had a deep impact on energy politics in Germany and Bavaria. The running¬ off of nuclear power plants will lead to an energy transition towards renewable energy that has – up to now – no other examples in the world. As a consequence, higher rates of renewable energies, especially in Bavaria will be the main target for the next ten years. The challenge is how to secure that bioenergy will keep those important shares to renewable energy production. This is mainly due to political and economic boundary conditions. Policy, because of the fact that in heat production as well as for mobility biomass has an outstanding position and in the near future political decisions have to be made concerning tax incentives for biofuels or incentives for biomass heating systems. It is a question of economy as well, because the most important driver is the price of competing commodities like oil and gas.
