Abstract:

In the recent past the properties of gasolines and diesel gas oils were continuously severed, and the properties of jet fuels will be more severe, too. Furthermore, it can become obligatory to blend alternative components into jet fuels. Based on the abovementioned, now the possibilities of producing low aromatic and low sulphur content in heterogeneous catalytic way are studied worldwide. One of the possibilities is the blending of biocomponent from catalytic hydrogenation of triglycerides. The aim of our experimental work was to study the catalytic transformability to jet fuel of 30¬70% Russian crude oil originating from a previously desulphurized kerosene fraction and a Hungarian gardened sunflower oil mixture at different process parameters. Based on the experimental results in case of the studied feedstock the yield and the properties of the products were favourable at the following process parameter combinations: temperature 320¬330°C, pressure 50 bar, LHSV 1.5¬2.0 h¬1 and volume ratio H2/HC volume ratio 500 Nm3/m3. Based on the quality properties of the product mixtures we determined that we successfully produced products with a high yield that have a reduced aromatic content, their performance properties are excellent and they contain biocomponents. These are excellent jet fuel blending components (smoke point: 35¬37.5 mm; aromatic content: =2.0%), they damage the environment less.
