Abstract:

Agricultural biogas sector in Poland has a vast potential that has been recognized by the central as well as local governments of the country. The onŽgoing legislative process will result in the adoption of three new laws including the Renewable Energy Sources Act, the Energy Act and the Gas Act. On the eve of the entry into force of the new legislation the paper takes an inŽdepth insight in those regulations that will impact the agricultural biogas sector development in Poland. Special focus has been given to the support measures, grid connection procedures as well as feedstock and activity status. Agricultural biogas production is still a vulnerable activity within the Polish energy market, dominated by the centralized conventional energy utilities. The challenge of promotion the dispersed sources of renewable energy starts in normative adaptation of a vast spectrum of regulations.
