Abstract:
This article highlights the advantages gained when the primary energy source of a classic fueled internal combustion engine CHP system is replaced by a biobutanol blends’ system. In the paper is presented a comparison study between two small scale reciprocating internal combustion engine CHP systems. They have identical power output, but with different primary driven (fuelled) type. One engine works on an Otto based process and the other is Diesel, both are working in cogeneration, generating measured heat and electricity, simultaneously. Results and discussions regarding the overall efficiency, emissions and market forecast conclude the paper.
