Abstract:
This paper gives an overview on the Austrian project Biogas Overall Assessment, where environmental, economic, and socio-scientific assessments of energy services with biomethane from the gas grid are carried out. The assessments are based the complete biomethane production, distribution and utilization chain. 15 biomethane production systems varying in feedstock, biogas and biomethane capacity, upgrading technology and plant design are considered. The energy services with biomethane from the gas grid are evaluated and compared to energy services with fossil and other renewable energy carriers. The results from the separate assessments are collected and evaluated using a multi-criteria-analysis.
