Abstract:
UE politics on renewable energy are increasing the interest on Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) for the production of woody biomass on arable land. Such plantations are common in Sweden and Italy, where willow and poplar clones are used respectively. Costs of the operations of establishment, management and harvest are well known in most conditions, but in order to complete the economic overview of the productive cycle of SRC, knowledge on field restoration is missing. CNRIVALSA started a long term study in order to provide a reliable cost estimate for the operation of farmland restoration.
