Abstract:

Char is well known as a material capable of reducing the tar content in biomass gasification producer gases when applied in fixed beds downstream of the reactor.Instead of using sand or catalytic active substances such as dolomite or olivine as bed material in the fluidized bed, char is applied. This material is steadily renewed in the process. The capabilities of this approach to reduce tar are examined by using online tar analysis by GC/MS.
