Abstract:

the main purpose of the work is demonstration of possible application of biocatalysts developed on the base of genus Clostridium cells catalyzing acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE)-fermentation and entrapped into PVA cryogel for the production of biobutanol from various industrial and agricultural cellulose-containing wastes as main sources in the frame of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation process. Cellulose-containing wastes of industry and agriculture were applied as main substrates for immobilized cells of microorganisms producing butanol. The content of immobilized biocatalysts producing ABE-fermentation was optimized. The positive influence of simple gas-stripping techniques on butanol production with immobilized cells was demonstrated. The effective simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of various cellulose-containing wastes to biobutanol was performed using complex of cellulolytic enzymes and immobilized cells Clostridium acetobutylicum.
