Abstract:

The study was conducted at GEER Foundation, Gandhinagar,Gujarat,India during year 2007 to evaluate maximum yield potential of Cenchrus ciliaris L.(Buffel grass), variety CAZRI 358 as affected by N alone and in combination with P and K and its various levels 0-0-0, 200-0-0, 400-0-0, 400-260-0, 400-0-260, 400-260-260 of NPK kg ha-1 Maximum biomass production and growth was recorded with fertilizer level of 400-260-260 NPK kg ha-1. It showed that higher dose of all three fertilizer induce more tillering, shoot length, root length, above ground fresh and dry weight and below ground fresh and dry weight and the data was highly significant. Results obtained with fertilizer dose of 400-0-0 and 400-0-260 NPK kg ha-1 were significant, which show N alone in higher dose enhance biomass production. Increasing fertilizer levels NPK up to 400-260-260 kg ha-1 significantly and linearly enhance biomass production and relative growth rate of Cenchrus ciliaris, while reduction in yield was obtained beyond this fertilizer dose.
