Abstract:
One of the important issues in bio-ethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass is the effective usage of sacchararification residue. The sacchararification residue includes lignin, which is contained a variety of functional groups. It is possible to apply the lignin as raw martial for chemical agents and plastics, thus there is a need for an effective extraction technique of lignin from the sacchararification residue. In this study, enzymatic sacchararification residue was applied to the extraction technique that was reported in previous study. As results, the method could extract acetic acid lignin from the sacchararification residue. In addition, the yield of acetic acid lignin increased with extraction time was observed. After extraction of acetic acid lignin, chemical natures of the lignin were estimated with fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis. The results indicated the hydroxylation of the acetic acid lignin with extraction time. In generally, many types of polymer are produced by polymerization of hydroxyl containing monomers. Therefore, it is possible that the acetic acid lignin extracted from sacchararification residue is used as plastics material.
