Abstract:
Chimney stoves are widely used in Germany. But they can emit high fractions of gaseous emissions and particulate matter, depending on user and fuel impacts. This also applies for different ash contents of wood or varying fuel sizes and shapes. Another important fuel related parameter is moisture content. All these influences as well as the fuel properties and behaviour of wood briquettes were investigated in extensive test stand trials. Regarded user impacts were for example the time of recharging or the number of logs loaded. From the obtained results recommendations for fuel preparation and properties as well as reloading strategies for a chimney stove are provided.
