Abstract:
Due to the depleting fossil fuel reserves and climate change, the development of alternative energy technologies is one of the major challenges of the 21th century. The multi-stage gasification technology, which was developed for the use of wood, is one of the most efficient procedures for transforming biomass into energy. Nevertheless, wood became also a high valuable resource in the last years; therefore, a need of alternative energy resources for gasificaation has accrued. To evaluate the eligibility of different alternative solid biomass for gasification a laboratory testing procedure was developed and a selection of biomass was analyzed and evaluated.
