Abstract:
Tars can work as an indicator for the quality of a biomass gasification process. Interesting for the description of the gasification process are not only the PAH-16 tar components PAH-16 but also other components like BTEX and benzene derivates like phenol. The tar guideline offers an analysis basing on GC-MS, which is characterised by high selectivity but also by long analyses time. With the optimisation of a gasification plant, a quick statement of the tar spectrum can give important information about the effect of changed parameters. In the context of the 3-year gasification project PowerBox, the objective was to develop an analysis method, which is able to detect a wide range of different tar substances in one-step, in short time but without loss on selectivity and sensitivity.
