Abstract:
Precise geographic data are needed when biomass availability is analysed for relatively small areas. In this study national estimates of technically available smallsized energy wood were supplemented with another dataset for bringing out the variation of harvest potential inside the districts. The study method was based on combining the values of different source data in a geographic grid which also formed a template for further logistical analysis. This method and a method with only national estimates as a source data were compared in a transportation case, and there were considerable differences in the results. The developed calculation method produces results that are realistic and improves the management of geographic data.
