Abstract:

According to climate protection aims a fundamental change in the energy system will have to take place. Under these conditions biomass will probably play an important role to stabilise the energy system. Regarding this after a short introduction upon possible developments in the future energy supply the main technologies for micro-CHP based on solid biofuels are described. Afterwards the comparison of these technologies according to the status of development and market implementation as well as efficiency and costs will give an idea of the perspectives and furtheron needed measures to improve the market share of micro-CHP.At the moment especially gaseous biofuels and to some extend liquid biofuels are usable for stationary micro-CHP. Solid biofuels are most frequently used in the micro-scale with stirling-engines. A few promising developments are at the edge to commercialisation. For the future essential increases in electrical efficiency as well as technical reliability are needed.
