Abstract:
The study of biomass gasification process is the aim of this work. The production of synthesis gas (syngas) is among the interests of our company. The syngas is the intermediate in producing synthetic fuels via Fischer Tropsch synthesis. To reach this goal the gasification process has been studied from a kinetic point of view: a kinetic model has been developed in Chemical Operation (CheOpe), eni proprietary process simulator, and in EasStimate (ES) package for complex kinetic analyses. A onedimensional reactor model is used to simulate a fluidized bed gasifier under isothermal conditions. The considered gasifying agents are oxygen and steam. The gasification process involves 19 reactions described by kinetic equations and the gasifier is simulated in CheOpe using two plug flow reactors in series. The change in products composition has been studied varying equivalence ratio (ER), steam to biomass ratio (S/B), temperature and pressure. Subsequently, the kinetic model has been validated by comparing the calculated results with literature data.
