Abstract:

For the power generation from the flaring of lean gases or hot gases, being emitted from land fill sites, bio-refineries and from heat of other industrial processes or concentrated solar radiation, a small micro turbine is being developed. Compared to existing micro-turbines, Aactor !GT can directly burn the gases at atmospheric pressure, and does not need any fuel pre-treatment, such as drying, de-sulfurisation, nor compression. After successful testing in the labs in 2009, a first field-test unit shall be put into service by end of 2010, being fired with landfill gas with only 11% Methane content. Produced power from landfill gas flaring is preventing 8 times more GHG-emission than replacing coal power by any other green energy.
