Abstract:
Over the last years the need for sustainable biomass has become evident. Sustainbility criteria are either formulated into laws (Renewable Energy Directive of the EU), or in national standards (Netherlands: NTA 8080). After criteria have been set certification systems are needed to proof evidence of sustainability of biomass. This paper describes the programs that support this worldwide sustainable biomass production and certification with a total budget of 25 M€ from The Netherlands.
