Abstract:

This paper describes the fluid­dynamic and heat transfer performance near pyrolysis temperatures in a pilot scale conical spouted bed reactor. The spouted bed reactor is the core of a fast pyrolysis pilot plant with a continuous biomass feeding up to 25kg/h, located at Ikerlan­IK4 facilities. The aim of the project is to have a deeper understanding of the spouted bed reactor performance at pyrolysis temperatures, in order to improve heat transfer in the reactor, minimizing energy requirements and to ensure reactor operation stability. Temperature effect on hydrodinamics and heat transfer between wall to bed and bed to surface has been discussed.
