Abstract:
A user-friendly biomass accounting form, which simplifies accounting and evaluation of biomass utilization systems, such as biomass towns which are popular in Japan nowadays, was designed to support biomass-related decision-making. The idea of environmental accounting is taken as a reference; however, the biomass accounting table is organized in order to reflect the particularities of biomass activities as well as biomass-related monetary, material and energy flows. With the help of user forms and other VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) tools, built into the main form, a user can generate calculation of profit, social and environmental impacts, conduct several types of analysis. If no required data are available, an automatic estimation of energy output and fossil fuel substitution is possible for energy-producing activities.
