Abstract:
The objective of this study is to present the methodology, the calibration and the qualification of on line FTIR measurement of naphthalene in a model gas containing most of the species of a biomass pyrolysis gas produced in a pilot scale set up. A wavelength window has been determined in the range of 782 cm-1 when low amount of acetylene (< 100 ppmV) and CO2 (< 4 %V) are present in the gas. When more acetylene and CO2 are present in the gas then a subtracting method is required to remove their contributions. The qualification of the FTIR measurements has been done by comparing FTIR with Tar Protocol and SPA-followed by TD-GCMS or GCFID, in neutral and model gas.
