Abstract:
Approximately 75 percent of Finland’s land area is covered by forest, making it the most forested country in Europe relative to its area. There are also over half a million private forest owners in Finland. The logging revenues from the forests of South Savo have been the highest in Finland when examined by region. South Savo is a region in eastern Finland. The vitality, growth and profitability of forests are promoted through sustainable forest management. The main stages of this study were to conduct a survey of forest owners focusing on South Savo region, and to process the survey results into an easily understandable format. The main purpose was to determine forest owners’ interests and opinions in the areas of sustainable forestry.
