Abstract:
This study employs CFD to examine how the geometry of double-membrane biogas digester roofs, particularly the inflation state of the inner membrane, influences convective heat loss and overall thermal efficiency. By simulating two different membrane profiles, the research visualizes airflow patterns between the membranes. The results indicate that the degree of membrane inflation has only a minimal impact on convective heat loss, as strong natural convection currents occur regardless of the geometry. These findings offer new insights into the thermal-hydraulic behavior of biogas digesters, guiding future design and operational strategies to optimize heat conservation and improve system efficiency.
