Abstract:
The EU’s tightening regulations will change the way wood is procured in a variety of ways, and the intention is to update future practices in the field of wood procurement. There are over half a million private forest owners in Finland. In this case, EU policy actions largely focus on the livelihoods of individuals and their approach to forest management. This study aims to gather and share the latest information on these issues for rural residents and other actors, developers and researchers in this field. The first point of this study is to examine the EU Commission’s policy actions and to investigate their effects on forestry and wood production from the forest in Finland. The second point of this study is to examine the future impact of tightening criteria on forest certification systems.
