Abstract:
This study evaluates the environmental and performance characteristics of 27 solvents for CO2 capture, comparing traditional amine-based solvents with emerging bio-based alternatives. Through a comprehensive assessment of environmental indicators and physicochemical properties, the solvents were screened to identify promising candidates for CO2 capture. Ethyl levulinate, Monoethanolamine, and Levulinic acid were identified as the most suitable solvents based on their balanced performance and environmental profiles. These shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) study to predict the properties of optimized solvent mixtures for enhanced CO2 capture efficiency.
