Abstract:
This paper describes two gasification concepts of ANDRITZ: CFB gasifier feeding lime kilns in pulp mills and BFB for advanced biofuels (focus of the paper). BFB gasification can be applied in either BtX or PBtX concepts. The paper presents a new tool to identify which pathway would be more profitable at the onset of a feasibility phase. Typically, PBtL pathway could be more profitable with low to medium prices of electricity from the grid. The paper shows that EU GHG savings requires very low CO2 emissions from the grid and based on 2022 EU statistics would favor BtX pathway.
