Abstract:
The test was focused on the comparison from the point of view of mechanical, agricultural, and productive aspects of the two cultivated species Carthamus tinctorius L. and Crambe abyssinica. In addition, an evaluation was also made on Poplar plantation to verify whether the presence of herbaceous crops in the inter-row could alter normal development. The Agroforestry experimental field was obtained from a 12-year-old Poplar plantation located at the CREA-IT farm in Monterotondo. The distance between the rows was originally 3 meters. Following the alternating removal of the rows, an inter-row distance of 6 meters was obtained for sowing industrial crops. This study represents the first example of intercropping between an already established MRF plant and herbaceous crops.
