Abstract:
The aim of this work is to develop new processes for the production of bio-based materials from agricultural and forestry by-products (lignocellulosic material) in the framework of Agromatter Project (CER-20211013-CDTI, Spain). To this end, three different processes were carried out. The first one, related to manufacturing of thermosetting composites from nonwovens (supplied by another company in the Agromatter consortium), makes use of infusion technology. Moreover, two other processes which involve the use of thermoplastic-processing technologies: the first one involving extrusion and injection molding of materials containing polylactic acid (PLA) and additives derived from agricultural byproducts; and the other one by reactive extrusion and injection molding using PLA matrices and commercial lignin at different percentages.
