Abstract:

Aim of the study was to investigate the possibility of co-gasification of horse manure in a down draft gasifier by means of a fuel mixture. Investigations into the fuel properties of different types of biomasses have been carried out for this purpose. The changes on the biomass side required for trouble-free gasification were then investigated. Focus was on adjusting the ash melting behavior by mixing horse manure with woody biomass and adding calcium carbonate.Ash melting behavior of horse manure can be adjusted by mixing it with woody biomass. Mixing ratios of horse manure with wood chips of 50:50, 60:40 and 70:30 have been investigated. The 70:30 mixture produced the highest deforming temperatures. However, even the highest deforming temperature measured with the 70:30 mixture was still below the required temperature. The addition of calcium carbonate can further increase the deforming temperature.
