Abstract:

The aim of the funded H2020 – Green Deal project FRONTSH1P (A FRONTrunner approach to Systemic circular, Holistic & Inclusive solutions for a New Paradigm of territorial circular economy) is to ensure a green and sustainable transition of the Polish Lódzkie Region towards decarbonization and territorial regeneration by means of four different circular systemic solutions(CSSs).This work presents the preliminary activities related to CSS1 – A circular approach to wood packaging waste which is based on the coupling of a rising co-current commercial stationary fluidised bed gasifier (40 kg/h) operating with wood packaging waste (e.g., disused pallets), with an in-house designed combustion facility based on a flexible combustion chamber (30 kW). This paper provides a detailed description of the design and sizing of the combustion facilityfor producer gas flame studies and its integrated measurement system. In particular, the combustion mode, the technical characteristics of the test rig, the design and operating conditions of the burner, and the sizing of the combustion chamber are presented and discussed.
