Abstract:

In this article, results obtained within one of the planned tasks in the research project TEGBIOSOL (Integration of thermoelectric generators (TEG) in solar PVT collectors and biomass boilers: testing and optimization in polygeneration schemes) are presented. This work includes the first results obtained in the test campaign carried out in a biomass boiler, using pine pellet type A1 as a fuel, and in which nine TEG modules have been integrated. Firstly, the reforms carried out in the boiler are exposed. Two zones have been modified: lower area, near the combustion air inlet, and upper area, just before the start of the convective zone of the boiler. In the first, three TEG modules have been placed, in such a way that the hot side is in contact with combustion gases and the cold side with inlet air refrigerated by fins. In the upper area, water circuit has been modified to cool other six TEG modules, while the hot side is in direct contact through a steel sheet with combustion gases. This work includes the decision making to improve the TEG modules operation, the final solution adopted, and future research.
