Abstract:
An approach to industrial symbiosis by fluidized bed gasification of biomass residues is presented. The obtained products, biochar and syngas, can be used by different energy-intensive industries, such as metallurgic. This way, the separation of biochar from the bed material, the optimization of the operating parameters to maximize the desired products, and the techno-economic assessment of the operations can enlighten a very promising circular economy solution. This paper presents the operational parameters of a fluidized bed gasification process, the biochar yields obtained in these different conditions and the result of the technoeconomic analysis of the co-production process.
