Abstract:

The Brazilian legislation that deals with contaminated soils presents aspects related to the identification of sites, limits of the presence of substances, and assigns responsibilities. However, the legislation does not present decontamination mechanisms, discouraging the existence of public and private sector initiatives. Thus, this research aims to present a proposal for the use of biomass for the soil decontamination policy in Brazil. For that, a bibliographical and documental research was carried out. As preliminary results, it was verified the need to develop an integrated public policy in terms of biomass production for soil decontamination and the use of the remediation product as raw material for the biofuel industry, contributing to the mitigation of contaminated areas in Brazil.
