Abstract:

With the rapid development of the world economy, the consumption of fossil fuels as the main energy source is also gradually increasing. With the introduction of carbon emission reduction policies by various countries, the steel industry is facing tremendous pressure for energy conservation and emission reduction. As a carbon-neutral and renewable energy source, biomass has attracted widespread attention in the blast furnace ironmaking process. The purpose of this research is to experimentally investigate the possibility of using biomass hydrochar for blast furnace injection, which is conducive to expanding the application fields of biomass resources and reducing fossil carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the blast furnace smelting process. The laboratory results show that the metallurgical properties of bio-sludge hydrochar have both advantages and disadvantages, and it needs to be mixed with anthracite for application in the blast furnace ironmaking process. Theoretically, it is feasible to use biomass hydrochar to replace pulverized coal in the blast furnace injection process, which can reduce fossil fuel consumption and fossil CO2 emissions.
