Abstract:
An interdisciplinary approach was made to make the best of manure while solving the problem of bad smell and ammonia inhibition. Researchers from the fields of hydrothermal engineering, bioengineering, hydrogen engineering, and engine engineering collaborated to develop a system where manure can be converted into electricity with a high efficiency without methane fermentation inhibition. Energy balance calculation was made to show it is an effective process. This process was successfully supported by a fund related to the Ministry of Environment, Japan for development of each component technology.
