Abstract:
Since the growth potential of cultivated energy crops for bioenergy production is limited, further sources must be investigated as for example biogenic residues and waste materials. The paper presents a concept considering the pyrolysis process to recycle problematic biogenic residues in order to extend its value chain. The aim is to examine the coke produced for further applications. Primarily the focus is set on biochar production due to the nutrients content. However, if the environmental compatibility is not feasible due to the composition according to legislation, further applications will be examined. Mixtures of excrements and biomasses with plastics as well as residues from gasification are selected as feedstocks. In order to demonstrate the problematic aspect of the gasifier residue, preliminary studies are carried out on the carbon content and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
