Abstract:
The project is intended as a contribution to Cuba and Cuban agriculture in the field of the bioeconomy. This will enable economic potentials for new ways of utilization of biomass and biogenic residues. The focus is on biogenic resources for energy use which do not compete with food production. The invasive species Dichrostachys cinerea will receive special attention because it causes significant problems, not only in Cuba. The development of a sustainable biomass strategy considering ecological effects is the aim of this project. For this purpose, ash content, elemental composition and ash melting behavior of twelve Cuban biomasses were investigated to carry out pyrolysis and gasification tests. Finally, a study on sustainable and environmentally friendly decentralized energy supply for Cuba is developed.
