Abstract:
The use of biomass as raw material for the production of energy has an important role to play in the effort to find useful energy sources other than fossil fuels which are currently dominating. Waste coffee groundsare easily accessible as they are produced in huge amounts yearly by coffee shops in every country around the world and therefore presents a great potential for energy utilization which can be done by turning it into pellets. This report focuses on espresso spent coffee ground-made pellets as a possible means of energy production by having the said pellets go through moisture, ash, net calorimetry and combustion testing following the European standards series 17225.The results obtained from this study show that coffee pellets made from Arabica espresso, yield satisfying results.
