Abstract:
Biomass gasification is a promising way of reducing the amount of waste that is being disposed and/or incinerated every year. As the product of the gasification is a gaseous mixture that can be easily converted into syngas (or biosyngas), several options of its utilization and conversion into chemicals and fuels come to mind. The aim of this research is to find the optimal process for syngas utilization and to design the upstream technologies that are required to meet the purity limits and ratio of components for the final transformation – in this case for hydrogen separation and for methanol synthesis via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Part of the study also involved creation of a simple prediction tool for syngas composition under various gasification conditions.
