Abstract:

The most promising technology of biofuel preliminary preparation for combustion is the low-temperature pyrolysis process (torrefaction). Torrefaction consists in raw material heating in an oxygen-free environment up to temperatures of 200-300 °C with subsequent holding. The main advantage of low-temperature pyrolysis technology is the fact that the obtained product by main thermo-technical parameters approaches the fossil coal as much as possible. One of the most important aspects of the power plant trouble-free operation is the fuel ability to retain high energy characteristics for a long time. Such capability allows creating strategic reserves of fuel to provide the consumer with uninterrupted power supply. A significant role in achieving the high quality of the torrefaction process organizing is played by thermal processes accompanying the thermal destruction of the convertible biomass. Endo- and exothermic reactions occurring in biomass torrefaction process can significantly influence the main operational parameter – the torrefaction temperature. The main goal of this research is increasing of thermal and energy torrefaction process efficiency by means of partial biomass internal heat using. Obtained results using while organizing the torrefaction process could significantly raise process energy efficiency.
