Abstract:

The biomasses are composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin in different proportions. Studies in this area evaluate the behavior of different biomasses in thermochemical processes in general, but not in their constituents. However, it is important to note that the proportion of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin is directly related to the final products. The objective of this work was to study the influence of biomass, cellulose and lignin components on the gasification process. The gasification reactions of lignin and cellulose with water vapor were carried out in a thermobalance at temperatures of 800º and 950º C and in an atmospheric pressure. The kinetic parameters of the reaction were determined. The products of the reaction were analyzed by gas chromatography. For both the best production occurred at a temperature of 800 ° C, cellulose char had an H2/CO ratio was 2,02. The lignin char obtained an H2/CO was 2,21. The experiments were carried out until constant mass.
