Abstract:

Microalgae has been proposed as one of the biofuel feedstock to solve global energy crisis due to its high photosynthetic rate and it could able to transform carbon dioxide into biochemicals that can later be processed into biofuels. In response to this advantage, abundant sources of renewable energy, such as the microalgae, are being investigated. Growth kinetics and lipid/biomass productivity were recorded and best on the results native isolate was considered as a candidate species for biofuel production as per the local environment controls. Sequences have been submitted to GenBank and can be retrieved with accession numbers KF937212.1- KF937219.1. The cluster analysis resolved the 8 microalgae isolates into two main genotypic clusters, designated Group I is eukaryotes and Group II is cyanobacteria. In the present study, oil having high amount of palmitic acid content in Nannochloropsis gaditana 1 indirectly indicates that it has lower iodine value. Oil from all the microalgae meet the linolenic acid methyl ester content (C18:3) imposed by the standard UNE-EN 14214 (EN14103 max. 12.0 wt. %). Among the all isolates of this study, N. gaditana 1, C. weissflogii, C. muelleri, A. coffeiformis were having below 5% of PUFA and has to higher oxidation stability due to their low PUFA content (below 10%) and most of the microalgal oil having linoleic and linolenic acids content below 7%, except few.
