Abstract:
Gasification of pine forest residues has been studied in this work as the first stage for the production of bio-jet fuel via Fischer-Tropsch (F-T). A non-stoichiometric thermodynamic model for the simulation of the gasification of biomass in autothermal conditions has been developed. According to the simulations accomplished with this model, steam to carbon mass ratios of 0.5 or 0.7 have been selected to carry out the gasification experiments in autothermal conditions without being necessary to use a very high ER. The experimental studies carried out in this work have shown that a pretreatment stage of torrefaction in severe conditions (61.80 wt. % of yield of torrefied solid) did not improve neither the gas production nor the H2/CO ratio, and also increased the tar content in the gasification gas. The use of steam as part of the gasifying agent improved the gas yield and the H2/CO ratio, but did not show a positive effect on the tar content.
