Abstract:

This work has been carried out within the framework of the CLEANBIOM project, supported by the Spanish Government, which aims to develop an integral strategy of control and minimization of emissions in medium biomass combustion plants, including an experimental evaluation of particulate matter (PM) emission abatement systems. Several combustion tests have been developed in a bubbling fluidised bed in CEDER-CIEMAT using different kinds of biomass and operating conditions. The abatement system of particle emissions in this pilot plant is composed of an electrostatic precipitator and a bag filter. The results obtained in a combustion test using eucalyptus as fuel are presented in this work. Gaseous emissions (O2, CO2, CO, SO2, NOx and TOC) have been measured with different analysers. The obtained values fulfil the limits established by the Directive EU 2015/2193. PM below 11.4.m size has been determined with a low pressure impactor, obtaining 192 mg/Nm3 at 6% of oxygen as reference in the raw gas. The concentration of PAHs in particles collected in the different stages of the low pressure impactor and in the ashes gathered in the electrostatic precipitator and in the bag filter has been determined.
