Abstract:
This paper involves an investigation of a number of biofuel car models specifically regarding fuel cost savings and engine considerations. A fuel cost comparison was carried out, using various fuel types including LPG, CNG/CBG and Petrol. The comparisons depended on a number of factors including fuel economy, fuel cost per unit and driving range ability of assessed vehicles. Among the major findings were: the fuel savings for an Opel Adam LPG vehicle versus a petrol version were found to be 45.6% while the savings for an Opel Zafira CNG/CBG vehicles versus petrol were 45.8%. An added benefit in the case of CBG fuelled engine is a significant reduction of harmful emissions and a reduced CO2 emissions to close to CO2 neutral levels.
