Abstract:
Power generation from solid biomass needs new flexible and cost-efficient concepts in nowadays. To answer this request, the Gammel Group developed the Kombi Power System®. This system bases on a countercurrent autothermal gasification system (Kombi Fire System®). In the downstream of this gasifier it is possible to use a lot of different power generation machines, such as gas turbines, gas engines and ORC turbines. The complete system is called Kombi Power System®. The following point makes the Kombi Power System® comparable to a construction kit: most components are standardized but variable in the size in order to meet the needs of the customers. The system allows the combination of different standard parts. This reduces engineering work and leads to reduced costs. This paper shows the basics of the Kombi Power System®, the four reference power plants and the operational experience. It also shows the current activities and the planned future development.
